If you have been incarcerated at a correction center or prison you should have been informed of re-entry programs offered by your city, county or state that are designed to help you transition back into life after you are released. Every jurisdiction is different as are the re-entry programs they offer. If you did not take advantage of signing up for these programs while you were incarcerated, it is possible they may still accept you after you have been released.
If you are on parole your parole officer should have information on programs you are eligible for. If you cannot get into a program because you did not sign up before your release, your parole officer may be able to intercede for you if you convince him you are serious about your new life story.
Many cities and counties have private groups of volunteers who work with people who have been incarcerated. Your local Sheriff’s office may be able to direct you to these groups. You need to take advantage of every bit of help that you can locate if you are to reach the goal you set for your new life story. Remember, even if you have extra consequences to deal with because of a bad decision you made, it doesn’t mean you have to let them defeat you. Finding the help you need are “tasks” that are part of a “milestone” you are going to accomplish on the way to your objective. Write them down and keep checking them off until you arrive.
