Education
Your education requirements may be dictated by the life story you wrote for yourself. If you are short on the education part of your story then education should be one of the milestones you included on your timeline. That milestone should also include tasks that you need to complete in order to satisfy the milestone before you move on to the next milestone. Below are some suggestions that might help you get the information you need in order to complete some of the tasks in your education milestone.
High School Education
A high school diploma is valuable for almost anything you want to do anywhere in the world. You will need a high school diploma or GED to enlist in the military or to enroll in a technical school or university.
Local High School
Visit your local high school and ask to speak to an admission counselor. If this is the same school that you dropped out of it will still have your school records. The counselor should be able to tell you how many credits you are lacking to graduate. They should also be able to make recommendations regarding if you should re-enter school or go the GED route. School counselors have access to a lot of resources and information that can help you. Be courteous, attentive and let them know their help will be appreciated.
GED Courses
There are a number of places that can give you advice about taking the required GED classes and taking the exam itself. Beware of some of the online GED offers as they may not provide you a GED that would be recognized by your state or other schools where you might want to apply.
- Your local State Employment Office should have information and contacts for signing up for GED classes.
- Your State Board of Education typically certifies your GED diploma. If all else fails try to find a website or ask someone for their number and contact them directly.

This is a public and private business collaboration that works to help people get into the work force. They can assist with your GED, training opportunities and job placement. Again, you want to take advantage of all the help you can get, so show these people that you are serious about changing your life and be appreciative of whatever help you receive.
